Monsanto Calls For Investigation into DuPont Campaign

ST. LOUIS, MO., August 18, 2009 – In a letter to DuPont’s chairman, Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) has formally requested an investigation into an on-going campaign of misinformation which appears to be spearheaded against the St. Louis-based company.

The letter and a series of other documents related to the campaign have been posted on Monsanto’s website at www.monsanto.com/dupont-youbethejudge.

These materials profile, for the first time, the extent of DuPont’s activities. The documents include forged letters to government officials, lobbying reports of representatives sanctioned by DuPont, links to recent news articles exposing DuPont funding of organizations to support such activities, as well as a letter from Monsanto’s Chairman to DuPont’s Chairman calling for an independent investigation.
